Happy Holi, Yaaaay!!!
Note: This is a special edition release. I’ve tried the drink recipes and they tasted just perfect. For the ice cream lovers and bakers out there- I’ve thrown in a couple recipes that you can test and let me know if you liked ’em! 🙂
I’ve picked out THE MOST famous and fan favorite recipe that closely associates with Holi – Thandai. This day in North India (especially), this drink is prepared with “Bhaang” (leaves and flowers (buds) of the female cannabis plant -rather intoxicating), milk and lot of dry fruits. In this blog I’m going to stick to NON-Alcoholic Thandai (minus Bhaang) that is immensely delicious and healthy.
You may want to shop for these ingredients if you are missing them – Dry nuts, rose petal paste (gulkand), saffron strands, black peppercorns, fennel seeds, charmagaz (mixed melon seeds), poppy seeds and spices. The unique combination of nuts and spices is what makes this drink soothing and refreshing.
There are several variations of this recipe which obviously comes with the use of spices and their proportion. Do go through all the recipes to pick your favorite!
PS: This drink is best-served chill. Please plan ahead and refrigerate overnight for best results!

Thank you! I haven’t been able to find a restaurant serving Thandai in the Bay as yet. I will update this blog as soon as I find one.
